Bad hair days may be a thing of the past
Here’s A good news for ladies your bad hair days may soon be over thanks to a new study which has revealed the secret of silky hair.
A team Scientist has analysed exactly how individual hair fibres interact at a microsopic level when they rubpast each other, there by showing how to make hari smooth and silky to touch.
According to researchers, this nanoscale analysis may soon be the key to the next generation of shampoos and various other products for repairing damaged, dry and lifeless hair.
“There’s a growing need to make hair feel more natural. However, scientists still are scrambling to put hair care on a firm scientific footing.”
“For the first time, we present an experimental set-up that allows measuring the subtle forces both physical and chemical that arise when single hairs slide past each other or are pressed against each other,” hair specialist scientist said.
The team analysed samples of bleached hair taken from volunteers and identified two reasons why it feels rough and can be hard to comb the first was that damage to the hair’s surface, or cuticle, scaly projections that just our at right angles to the hair’s man shaft.
When hair fibres slide past each other, the projections catch, creating extra friction. This suggests that conditioners need to be formulated to contain agents that can soften or remove these scales, according to the researchers.
The other effect is caused by negative electrical changes that build up on the surface of hairs, that leads them to repel one another this adds to friction and makes hair feel rougher. Positively changed polymers could be added to conditioners to counteracts this.
